FAQs

We understand that sports insurance can sometimes be confusing and raise a lot of questions. To help, we’ve answered some of your most commonly asked questions about the AOCRA insurance program here.

Who is covered by the AOCRA insurance program?

All registered AOCRA members, coaches, officials, first aid officers, administrators, committee members and volunteers are covered by the insurance program.

What is the scope of the cover provided?

The policy runs for a period of 12 months and provides worldwide coverage for accidents that occur while participating in AOCRA-sanctioned activities and events. These include:

  • Competing in official AOCRA approved and sanctioned activities and races
  • Participating in AOCRA training or practice sessions
  • Participating in official AOCRA functions
  • Travelling to and from AOCRA regattas, races, training, meetings or official functions
  • Engaging in authorised voluntary work for AOCRA or committee meetings
  • When away on tour, but only while participating in AOCRA-sanctioned activities. End of season social trips are not covered under this policy.
Should active AOCRA members also consider taking out additional personal coverage?

This program is not “comprehensive” and as such we encourage all participants to take out Private Health, Life and Income Protection Insurance according to their own individual needs and circumstances. It is an individual’s responsibility to ensure that they have adequate insurance cover for their own needs.
